What is a fanlisting? A fanlisting is a site dedicated to uniting fans all around the world of a particular subject. If you're a fan, then you can be on the list! All you have to do is join with your name, country and email address. TheFanlistings.org is the original web directory for fanlistings. It lists one fanlisting per subject, so that fans can easily find the fanlisting they're looking for, and all fans for that subject find the same fanlisting. The subjects include entertainment, fashion, history, food, sports, technology and various miscellaneous subjects as well. If you can be a fan of it, there can be a fanlisting for it. This is the only fanlisting listed at TFL.org for The animated series, The Simpsons. Why build a fanlisting? Because it's nice to know there are other people you've never heard of who share a remote commonality with you. Plus, it beats sitting around waiting to go insane.
The brainchild of creator Matt Groening, The Simpsons began in 1987 as shorts featured on The Tracey Ullman Show. On December 17, 1989, the first full-length episode, Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire, was aired. Since then, the series has spawned almost 400 episodes (the 400th episode is set to air May 20th, 2007), with a feature film set for release in July 2007. The series has earned the records of longest running animated series, as well as the longest running prime-time sitcom ever in American television. The franchise also has a plethora of merchandise to its name, including books, comic books, toys, t-shirts, video games, and a limited edition of Xbox 360. The series was also awarded its own star on the Hollywood walk of fame in 2000.
The show features the adventures of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and that little baby simpson, Maggie who become involved in everything from local chili fests to deep space exploration. Numerous supporting characters turn up week after week to either become heavily involved with the family's adventures or simply drop in a catch-phrase. The local town of Springfield is very typically suburbian and currently rated #398 on the list of America's 400 most livable cities.
Yes, the Simpsons have come a long way since an old drunk made humans out of his rabbit characters to pay off his gambling debts. Who knows what adventures they'll have between now and the time the show becomes unprofitable?
